Sterling silver Moldavite pendant. Created by the impact of a meteorite 14 million years ago, this mossy green gemstone is perfect for lovers of astronomy and the Bohemian forests.
Formed by a meteorite impact in Southern Germany 14 million years ago, Moldavite is a form of natural glass valued as a gemstone. When meteorites strike the earth, the heat and force fuses silicas in the ground into a naturally forming glass (tektites) that can be thrown thousands of miles in what are called "strewn fields". Moldavites, with their mossy green color, are the only tektites that are considered a true gem quality mineral, and can be found in parts of Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic.
This moldavite piece was sourced in the Czech Republic, and carefully placed in a sterling silver setting.
The perfect piece for any lover of astronomy.
